Champions League, EHF 2020
EHF, the European Handball Federation, selected us among 27 agencies from 12 European countries to design and manufacture the new trophies for the Champions League Final 4, the European Handball Cup.
Trophies that, according to EHF, are destined to change the history of this sport by giving the same award to men and women.
The European Handball Cup is a top-level event that, due to its repercussion, was used as a vehicle for transmitting a message of commitment to different current issues such as inequality between men and women or climate change.
For the first time, a top-level sport will award the same trophy to the winners of the men's and women's championships, since, avoiding prejudices about masculinity or femininity in the design, two trophies have been proposed that make no formal difference between them.
The idea of the goal as the main objective of the game and the shield as a representation of the essence of team sports are the starting point for the design of the new trophy. A net made of recycled aluminum, receiving the impact of the ball at full speed, forms a paraboloid that functions as a housing for the regulation-size ball.
